The Intersect EHR

The Intersect EHR™, ONC-ATCB Certified as an in-patient complete EHR and as an ambulatory EHR was the result of a 6-year, $100,000,000 project by the Henry Ford Health System that involved 150 developers and senior Ford executives. The new system, named CarePlus Second Generation™ by Ford, was the replacement for their previously existing 22-year-old EHR. The system "went live" across Ford's network of hospitals, medical centers, emergency rooms and pharmacies in 2011.

In 2013 intellectual property rights to the EHR were acquired by Intersect. Intersect has rebranded it as the Intersect EHR™. As configured, the system is uniquely suited to cost effectively meet the requirements of a healthcare organization's transition from fee-for-service to value-based care-delivery. The same features qualify the application to be a perfect solution as either the technology foundation of an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) or for a public or private Health Information Exchange (HIE). The system efficiently scales down to the needs of a Critical Access Hospital or up to serve thousands of users as is the case with the Henry Ford Health System.

Previously, fully featured EHR systems were limited to only the most sophisticated and affluent healthcare organizations who were able to afford them. Now, the Intersect EHR is a "game changer." The favorable acquisition by Intersect of this software has made high performance EHR systems affordable for healthcare organizations of all sizes.
